In this study, we report the fabrication of high quality thin films for semiconducting organic charge-transfer compounds composed of benzothienobenzothiophene derivatives (diCmBTBT) and fluorinated derivatives of 7,7,8,8,-tetracyanoquinodimethane (FnTCNQ), which have a high degree of layered crystalline structure. Blade-coated thin films with (diC8BTBT)(F2TCNQ) solutions have thickness of 30 nm and single crystalline domains. Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) fabricated with the compound films exhibited n-type field-effect characteristics, showing a electron mobility of 0.96 cm2/V s. This mobility is consistent with its bulk single crystal transistors. We discuss the formation of thin films and OTFT operation including its air stability.
