We found that the Ta nanoparticles (NPs) have strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) at around 200 nm, which is the shortest wavelength in any other metal NPs. These spectra were well represented by the FDTD and DDA simulations. Moreover, we observed the peak splitting of extinction spectra when the Ag NPs were placed on a metal substrate. By using this structure with Al NPs, very strong and sharp resonance peak was obtained at 156 nm by the FDTD simulation.
