Until now, there have been no synthesis examples of solid phase yttrium monoxide (YO) because of the very high reactivity of Y. However, we succeeded in the synthesis of YO epitaxial thin films by using pulsed laser deposition method for the first time. This time we will report the electric transport and optical properties of YO. As the amount of oxygen vacancies increases, the electric transport properties of YO were changed from semiconducting to metallic. From the results of the magnetoresistance and the absorption spectra, it is suggested that YO is a Mott-Hubbard insulator.
