A hybrid solar cell of silicon (Si) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) was prepared using the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as an additive to PEDOT:PSS solution. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) increased up to 9-fold by adding DMSO with the concentration of 5 wt%. According to the results of grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscope, and vibrational Raman spectrum, the 9-fold enhancement was controlled by the nanostructure of PEDOT:PSS film. In particular, the enhanced performance was attributed to the increased amount of p–p stacking, the shorten distance among p–p stackings, the increased amount of quinoid structure of PEDOT, and the reduced size of PEDOT:PSS particle. In addition, the PCE was also enhanced by the transparent cathode of colloidal Ag nanowire and by the homogeneous film prepared via a vacuum-free process.
