[21p-P16-1] Loss reduction at slab-array interface in AWG using minimum rib area

We report new scheme of loss reduction at slab-array interface in AWG. The MMI coupler is inserted in the arrayed waveguide. The rib waveguide structure is used only at the MMI coupler. The thinner slab waveguide is inserted only in the gap between MMI couplers.
