[6p-S43-1] Trial fabrication of eddy current testing system using HTS-SQUID on a hand card for detection of fatigue cracks of steel deck plate
Keywords:SQUID, non-destructive evaluation, crack detection
Some bridges and highway roads have a structure in which steel plates paved with asphalt span bridge girders. It is well known that the steel plate called a deck plate cracks especially along a backside welding line with longitudinal ribs due to heavy load of long-time car traffic. We have developed an eddy current testing system using HTS-SQUID for detection of fatigue cracks of steel plate through an asphalt pavement.
In previous work, we reported a successful detection of a crack in a steel plate using a laboratory system for principle verification experiment. In this study, a similar system was assembled on a hand cart to perform a field test using actual deck plate samples.
