[18p-PA1-11] Application of shear horizontal surface acoustic wave device for engine oil quality monitoring

Liquid-phase sensor is realized using a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) device. The SH-SAW sensor can measure viscosity, density, conductivity, and relative permittivity of liquids, and mass loading effect on the sensor surface. In this paper, the SH-SAW sensor was applied to measure engine oils. Used and new engine oils were measured by the SH-SAW sensor. Then, the deterioration of the engine oil was experimentally discussed.
