In this study, we have developed ultraviolet optical modulators using non-polar ZnO/ZnMgO quantum wells grown by plasma-source molecular beam epitaxy on r-plane sapphire substrates. The modulator device exhibited a modulation degree of 30% at 3.4eV (365nm).
