[17p-B403-7] Passively Q-switched 2.8 μm Er:Lu2O3 ceramic laser with graphene saturable absorber

We have suscessfully demonstrated room temperature cw operation of Er:Lu2O3 ceramic laser at 2.8 μm wavelength with output power of 2.6 W. To our knowledge, this is the highest output power obtained by Er:Lu2O3 ceramic laser. We also tried Q-switched operation by using graphene saturable absorber to obtain higher peak power. Stable Q-switched pulses were obsereved and the pulse duration and repetition rate at 1.3 W average power were 300 ns and 140kHz, respectively. The maximum pulse energy and peak power were 9.4 μJ and 33 W,respectively.
