Carrier transport in ultra-small transistors or under high electric fields should be affected by quantum mechanical effects. In addition, several novel devices utilizing quantum effects, such as tunnel field-effect transistors, have been proposed and investigated. In this talk, I will briefly discuss how one can incorporate the quantum mechanical effects into semiconductor device simulation. I will then introduce our recent efforts on developing a quantum transport device simulator. Finally, I will discuss the future prospects of the device simulation with quantum mechanics.
