キーワード:perovskite solar cells, impedance measurements, ambient light energy harvesting
Ambient light energy harvesting is a potentially useful application for perovskite photovoltaics that could sidestep the instability of the perovskite materials observed under strong solar radiation. A potential issue, however, is whether the high power conversion efficiency observed under 1 sun operation can be maintained at very low ambient light intensity. In this study, the power output scaling of perovskite solar cell devices with incident light intensity is investigated. Analysis of the current voltage curves and impedance measurements reveal two significant factors influencing low light performance. First, the output efficiency increases at light intensities below 1 sun as the heating effect of the incident radiative energy is reduced. Second, device efficiencies under very low incident light intensities are better than expected as a result of increasing shunt resistance.
