In this work we investigated arrays of Patch Antenna Microcavities (PAM) for THz quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). Owing to the subwavelength confinement volumes providing enhanced light-matter interaction and the antenna effect provided by the geometry of the structure, we were able to demonstrate low-beam divergence emission and enhanced performance with respect to THz QCLs in conventional standard double metal ridge waveguides.
