[20p-E204-8] Wave Chaotic Modes in a Penrose Unilluminable Room Microcavity

Takehiro Fukushima1 (1.Okayama Pref. Univ.)

Keywords:microcavity, resonator mode, chaotic cavity

The ray-wave correspondence in two-dimensional optical cavities is an interesting research topic from a viewpoint of fundamental physics. In 1958, Roger Penrose proposed a cavity geometry, which always has unilluminable regions unreachable by optical rays wherever a point light source is set in the cavity. The cavity has fully illuminated resonance modes that spread widely in the entire cavity, contrary to expectations. In my talk, I will discuss the formation mechanism of the fully illuminated resonance modes based on our numerical calculation results based on the finite element method.
