This work describes the way of discrimination for bacteria, Legionella by photogate-type fluorescence sensor. Photoirradiation time dependences of fluorescent intensity for L. erythra was obtained by the optical sensor with the UV-photointensity as a parameter. The appropriate excitation photointensty was found to be necessary for observing the fluorescent intensity variation because the rate of photochemical reaction in Legionella cells varies depending on the excitation photointensty.
