[10p-M111-8] Surface Engineering of Colloidal Quantum Dots for the Improvement of Photoluminescence Properties

Taro Uematsu1 (1.Osaka Univ.)

Keywords:quantum dots, fluorophore, photoinduced electron transfer

Quantum dots are facing tasks of stability enhancement and cadmium-free while they have been put into practical use. Although material of particle cores are important, surface modification gives substantial effects on the photoluminescence properties since ratio of elements exposed to the surface is high for nanosized particles. In this paper, I will introduce the successful band edge emission from I-III-VI semiconductor quantum dots by amorphous shell coating, in addition to the method to evaluate the surface conditions of quantum dots using photoinduced electron transfer. The importance of surface and interfacial chemistry on the development of quantum dot materials are discussed.
