In this study, molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) capable of specific recognition of α-fetoprotein (AFP), a biomarker glycoprotein for liver diseases, was prepared, in which glycans on AFP was recognized by boronic acid and amino acid residues of AFP was recognized by the functional groups introduced into the recognition cavities via post-imprinting modification (PIM). The AFP binding capacity of the obtained MIP thin film was evaluated by SPR measurements and a dissociation constant was estimated to be 3.5 × 10-11 M from the obtained binding isotherm, confirming that the sensitive detection of AFP was achieved by the present molecular imprinted nanocavities bearing orthogonal interaction sites.
