Resonant tunneling diode (RTD) is a semiconductor device that can emit continuous wave terahertz radiation just by supplying bias voltages. Here we performed injection locking of RTDs using phase-locked picosecond terahertz pulses. As a result, we succeeded in coherent sampling of the electric field emitted from RTDs.
