Keywords:thermoelectric materials, spark plasma sintering, impurity doping

Dense Mg3Sb2 sintered samples were successfully fabricated directly from a powder mixture of Mg, Sb and a small amount of Y2O3 or Te, by spark plasma sintering method. Doping of Y and Te into Mg3Sb2 was successfully achieved, and the samples doped with Y and Te showed n-type. Because the electron density of Y-doped Mg3Sb2 at room temperature is higher than that of Te-doped sample, the solubility limit of Y in Mg3Sb2 is estimated to be higher than that of Te. Both Y- and Te-doped Mg3Sb2 show the maximum values of dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of 1.0 at about 773 K.
