We demonstrate basic operation of Brillouin optical correlation-domain reflectometry (BOCDR) based on external modulation scheme, which can mitigate three demerits of conventional direct modulation scheme. A 0.8-m-long strain in a 2.8-m-long silica fibre is successfully detected in a distributed manner.
