This study is based on composite spectroscopy using resonance hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (Resonant HAXPES, r-HAXPES) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAFS), which are currently being developed at SPring-8 (large synchrotron radiation facility). The composite spectroscopy was applied to elucidate the co-catalyst function of Ni nanoparticles supported on the surface of solid photocatalyst Ga2O3. The analysis of the measurement results shows that the transition to the eg hybrid orbital formed by the interaction between the Ni 3d and O 2p orbitals and the significant electron yield increase of CT, Ni2O3 in that energy region, that is to say, the charge transfer between Ni and O was observed.
