The heart is mainly composed of cardiomyocytes (CM) and fibroblasts (FB). FSs, which are "non-myocytes", have become increasingly important to understand the heart development and diseases. For example, when healing from wound or scar, FBs differentiate into myofibroblasts at the heart, which occasionally causes loss of cardiac function and arrhythmia. However, the mechano and electro properties of mixing of these FB and MFB with CM in vivo are poorly known. We have developed a system to co-culture FB and CM in a patterned formation on PDMS and investigated the dynamics of these cells. We have found anomalous motions of FBs with CM as a cluster. Initially, the FBs took off from the cluster and returned to the cluster in tens of hours. We will discuss the details of FB dynamics qualitatively.
