Magneto-optical (MO) effects and MO materials have an indispensable role in nonreciprocal photonic applications under broken time-reversal symmetry, such as Faraday rotators and circulators. However, in general, MO effects are rather weak in the optical domain, hampering the downsizing of MO devices. A way to solve this issue is to use optical resonances for enhancing MO light matter interactions. In this report, we show a design of giant enhancement of MO response in Magneto-photonic crystal composed of ferromagnetic garnet.
