The Mg/MgO/MgB2 nanocomposite, which is a microscopic and fractal mixture of Mg (metal), MgO (insulator), and MgB2 (superconductor), has the property that the whole of a system shows superconductivity due to the superconducting proximity effect even when MgB2 is dilute. In this study, we newly introduced the element Si, a typical semiconductor, into this Mg/MgO/MgB2 nanocomposite and investigated the effect of Si addition on the superconducting properties of the Mg/MgO/MgB2 nanocomposite.
