[22p-A106-13] Hydrocarbon Penetration into Phospholipid Monolayers Formed at Hydrocarbon–Water Interfaces
Keywords:phospholipids, monolayers, oil/water interfaces
Phospholipid monolayers formed at hydrocarbon–water interfaces have been widely used to form lipid bilayers. However, the lipid–hydrocarbon interactions within the monolayers are not well understood. Thus, in this study, we investigated hydrocarbon penetration into lipid monolayers using pendant drop tensiometry. We found that the degree of oil penetration in monolayers varied with the type of hydrocarbons (linear/branched alkanes, cycloalkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons).
