[22p-A404-12] Effect of Discharge Condition on Pretreatment of Wood Flour Saccharification by Underwater Discharge Shock Wave

Keywords:Underwater discharge, Shock wave, Wood saccharification

Pretreatment of cellulose saccharification is important for wood-based bioethanol production, and we have proposed a pretreatment method to fragment cellulose using shock-waves by underwater discharges. When the peak value of the voltage pulse was increased, the discharge energy was increased, whereas the shock-wave pressure did not change. In the saccharification of cellulose, changing the discharge energy from 0.85 to 1.15 J/pulse had no effect on the saccharification effect, whereas increasing the discharge frequency from 3 to 7.5 Hz improved the saccharification effect.
