We report on the electronic states and electrical transport properties of the nitrogen-doped 3D graphene nanoarchitecture. From transport and photoelectron spectroscopy measurements, nitrogen doping on a 3D curved graphene surface induces the electron localization and the resulting Urbach-tail-like state near the neutral point, in addition to the metallic conduction channels of graphene. This dual electronic state could be the origin of the high catalytic properties and photothermal conversion properties of N-doped 3D graphene.
