[23p-B202-11] Water Adsorption Kinetics on Graphene Controlled by Surface Modification of Supporting Substrates

Keywords:graphene, water adsorption, hydrophilicity

Graphene is ultimately thin and thus highly sensitive to the adsorption of foreign molecules on its surface. Therefore, its deployment in sensor applications has been widely investigated. In graphene humidity sensors, there is a trade-off relationship between the introduction of defects that increase the affinity to water molecules and high electrical and mechanical performance. In this talk, we report that the initial adsorption rate of water molecules on graphene can be controlled by the hydrophilicity of supporting substrate surface, even without relying on the introduction of defects into graphene.
