In recent years, compact and highly functional visible light devices using silica-based PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) have been proposed. In the conventional silica-based PLC, germanium-doped SiO2 is usually used as a core. It is a problem that the effective refractive index(Neff) of conventional PLC degraded due to germanium at the input of high power blue light. In this report, a new silica-based PLC using zirconia doped SiO2 as a core was fabricated to suppress this Neff change, and the stability of Neff was evaluated when 405, 445, and 473 nm blue light input.
