Three types of MNCs with different fibre size distributions were synthesised by varying the Ni loading of Ni-supported diamond oxide catalysts used as catalysts for the synthesis of Marimo Nanocarbons (MNCs). The MNCs were used as an anode electrocatalyst support in direct ethanol fuel cells. The results showed that increasing Ni loading increased the fiber diameter, pore size and mesopore volume. The MNCs with larger fibre diameter and higher mesopore volume showed higher power output in DEFCs.
