A series of measurements using a light scattering medium, frosted glass, were conducted by polarization probing polarization imaging method (referred to as PPPI method), a method for measuring the spatial distribution of polarization under polarized light illumination, to research the effects of light scattering media on the PPPI method. In particular, the measurement results of a sample of frosted glass overlaid with a patterned retarder represented that using a long-wavelength light source contributed to reducing noise due to Rayleigh scattering generated by the frosted glass, resulting in the spatial distribution of the patterned retarder’s anisotropy was more clearly visualized.
