Aging is inevitable and it encompasses all the tissues of the body with an expiry date marked for initiation of functional degeneration. With increasing age, low physical activity and social isolation leads to reduce joint mobility, muscle mass, muscle strength and accelerates frailty among older adults and they become more susceptible to chronic disabling diseases. Men and women age differently. Women are more likely to suffer from hypertension, cardiovascular ailments, diabetes, incontinence, Alzheimer’s disease and arthritis as compared to men. In this context a survey was conducted on 105 middle economic class elderly women above 55 years chosen randomly from semi urban area with a purpose to identify their frailty status by using RAND-36 item Health Survey questionnaire, and found 36% under Non-Frail , 46% under Pre-Frail and 18% under Frail category. Among those 105 women the 24 volunteered women age ranged between 55-65 years (mostly from Non-Frail and Pre-Frail category) were divided into Experimental group (n =12) and Control group (n=12) to carry out an experimentation to observe the effect of 10 weeks’ multicomponent progressive exercise programme using resistance band on their muscular strength (grip & back), dynamic balance, trunk flexibility and gait velocity. The exercise programme was given for 4 days per week of 70-80 min per session which included brisk walking, stretching and bending exercise, resistance band exercise and recreational activity. Pre and Post test data were collected and normality, linearity and homoscedasticity were checked. Descriptive statistics and comparative statistics were computed to observe the baseline differences between the groups and the effectiveness of intervention on both the groups separately. Results revealed that 10 weeks’ multicomponent exercise programme is beneficial for Elderly women to manage their frailty and may lead them towards healthy aging.
