[4D-01] Designing a place to pass on memories of disasters to unaffected children
From a participant observation of the theatre of disaster memory transmission "Storytelling of Life"
Keywords:Disaster Storytelling, Post-disaster generation, Theatre performance
The purpose is to clarify the role of theater in passing on memories to children who have not experienced a large-scale natural disaster, and to propose the storytelling design with drama. The "Storytelling of Life" played in Ishinomaki, Miyagi revealed that it conveyed to the audience the significance of the disaster traditions, and the children showed behaviors that deepened their understanding of disasters. While, it was found that different stakeholders gave contradictory meanings to the theater. Therefore, I proposed three types of storytelling designs: "transmission-type," "research-type," and "dialogue-type.
