[S34] Synthetic organic chemistry: the young challengers

Fri. Mar 27, 2020 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM [Room V] Annex Hall 1 (1F)

Organizers: Hiroshi Takikawa (Grad Sch Pharm Sci, Kyoto Univ), Masanori Shigeno (Grad Sch Pharm Sci, Tohoku Univ), Masaya Nakajima (Grad Sch Pharm Sci, Chiba Univ)

The purpose of this symposium, "Young Challengers in Synthetic Organic Chemistry", which has been held since the 121st Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan is to contribute to the continuous development of organic synthesis and the emergence of new fields by discussing with young researchers at the forefront in this field.
Organic synthesis is a core field that draws out the potential of molecules through "Monozukuri", which means "Manufacturing", to contribute to various research fields. However, albeit the great strides in the past, there are many complex molecules that are difficult to be constructed even with the modern organic synthesis and many molecules with unexpected functions that are beyond human knowledge. Since the fields surrounding organic synthesis are expanding, including the creation of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, and functional materials as well as the understanding and control of life phenomena, further development has been required.
This year, five young researchers working in various fields of organic chemistry will present their latest research results. We believe that large and diverse participants of this symposium will take an avid interest in beauty of organic chemistry.
