Symposium
Sun. Mar 27, 2022 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM [Room F] Exhibition Room 211 (Bldg. 2: 1F)

In addition to cytotoxic anticancer drugs, combination therapy with molecular targeted drugs and immune checkpoint inhibitors is often used in clinical practice. In addition, oral anticancer drugs have become one of the standard therapies for major cancer types, and an increasing number of patients are receiving outpatient treatment rather than inpatient treatment to improve their quality of life, making it difficult for hospitals alone to provide patient follow-up. A response centered on patient safety management through all pharmacist collaboration, including hospital pharmacists, pharmacy pharmacists, and even university faculty, is necessary.
The Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act that pharmacists working at insurance pharmacies must continuously monitor the use of drugs and provide guidance based on necessary pharmaceutical knowledge. In other words, pharmacists are responsible for the continuous follow-up of patients undergoing cancer drug therapy and ensuring patient safety management.
This symposium will share with the audience the importance of education at universities, the skills of pharmaceutical care practice in outpatient pharmacy at oncology hospitals, and specific patient safety management methods by pharmacy pharmacists who have conducted hospital training. We would like to provide a forum to discuss what exactly needs to be done about providing cancer drug therapy in the new era for the purpose of patient safety management.
