Membrane proteins such as G protein-coupled receptors and glycoproteins are important targets in drug discovery. For a long time, however their structural analysis and functional elucidation have been considered difficult tasks. In this symposium, we will discuss the advanced technologies and recent development in membrane protein researches from the viewpoint of a new interdisciplinary field introduced by lectures of leading researchers who are working on structural and functional elucidation of membrane proteins.
