[GS02] Drug Discovery Research Pioneered by Young Researchers~Toward the Creation of Innovative Drugs~

Mon. Mar 27, 2023 1:50 PM - 3:50 PM [Room PS1] (1F)

Organizer: Motoharu Hirano, Ryotaro Notomi

Recently, drug discovery research on new modalities using macromolecules, and small and medium molecules has been actively conducted with the aim of creating innovative drugs. Among them, antibody drugs with target specificity and weaker side effects, nucleic acid drugs targeting DNA and RNA, and peptide drugs inhibiting protein-protein interactions, have many advantages over conventional small molecule drugs. However, the large molecular size and high polarity of these molecules make it difficult for them to penetrate into cell. In addition, they lack chemical stability in vivo and are easily degraded. Therefore, it is very important to develop techniques to deliver antibodies, nucleic acids, and peptides into cells and to modify molecules to improve their chemical stability.
This symposium will focus on antibodies, nucleic acids, and peptides as new modalities, and will introduce the research of graduate students who are energetically engaged in drug discovery research. We hope that this symposium will provide an opportunity for active discussions and lead to the creation of the next generation of drugs.
