[S54] Entrepreneurship education that creates the future of pharmaceutical sciences

In today's rapidly changing world, such as advances in technology, the development of artificial intelligence, and global pandemics, the qualities required of pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers are also changing significantly. In response to these situations, entrepreneurship is important as the foundation for being active in society, and education to cultivate it is essential. Furthermore, we believe that if pharmaceutical human resources who study a variety of specialized subjects acquire this spirit, they will have the potential to solve the problems facing the world as leaders.
Based on this background, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University started an entrepreneurship training course (iHOPE ; innovative Healthcare-Oriented Program for Entrepreneur) for first-year undergraduates in 2017. In addition, iHOPE NEXT for graduate students also started as a practical version from 2021. In this symposium, in addition to reports on past activities, there will be a panel discussion on changes in students who have taken the course and the importance of entrepreneurship.
