We are pleased to announce that the 143rd Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ) will be held at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, from March 25 to March 28, 2023. The organizing committee comprise the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University, supported by the pharmaceutical faculties of the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido and Hokkaido University of Science. 
 

The theme of the 143rd Annual Meeting is "PharmaScience: Integration for Breakthroughs." Through this meeting, we wish to contribute to the progress of research leading to the development of innovative drugs and therapies by bringing together researchers from various research fields. The theme in Japanese "tsunagaru (connected) and tsukinukeru (breaking through)" also reflects our goal to connect researchers from different fields and facilitate research stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic. 
 

The 143rd Annual Meeting will feature special lectures, award-winning lectures, a joint symposium of the PSJ and the Korean Pharmaceutical Society, and the FIP Forum, and will call symposia and academic presentations (oral and poster). To promote interdisciplinary sessions, the organizing committee is planning interdisciplinary "tsunagaru (connected) and tsukinukeru (breaking through)" sessions under three themes, which include special lectures and symposia. The speakers of these interdisciplinary sessions will be selected, based on the recommendations from the research divisions of the PSJ. By assigning poster presentations related to these themes to the same venue, we will promote interaction among researchers from diverse research fields to realize the theme of this meeting, "PharmaScience: Integration for Breakthroughs." In addition, we will arrange a program for pharmacists on the afternoon of Saturday, March 25, and the morning and afternoon of Sunday, March 26. 
 

The Annual Meeting in Sapporo will be organized in a hybrid format in which all sessions can be attended either on-site or online. A social gathering is scheduled to be held at the Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo. We sincerely hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will recede by March 2023 and that we can conduct a social gathering where we can have frank conversations about research and education, transcending the boundaries of research fields. It will be of great help in achieving the theme of this meeting, "tsunagaru (connected) and tsukinukeru (breaking through)." 
 

Hokkaido University is conveniently located just a 10–20-minute walk from the JR Sapporo Station. We look forward to a successful 143rd Annual Meeting 2023 and appreciate your participation.
