[2F12] Investigation of zeolite catalysts for the decomposition of polypropylene in hydrocarbon solvent
Keywords:chemical recycling, zeolite, hydrocarbon solvent
We aim to recycle waste plastic to petrochemical feedstock through chemical recycling, one of the recycling methods for plastics. To improve fluidity and remove admixtures, waste plastic was melted/dissolved in hydrocarbon solvent and catalytically decomposed. Hydrocarbon solvent obtained in the petroleum refining process was used as solvent, and polypropylene (PP) was used as a representative of polyolefin. Three types of zeolites, Beta, USY, and ZSM-5, were used as catalysts. and differences in PP conversion and products were discussed.
