Hyperthermia combined with subsequently applied radiation can be effective for treatment of tumors. By increasing the temperature, tumors become radiosensitive, resulting in the ability to reduce the radiation dose. Blood flow, however, is an important factor which impacts the overall hyperthermia process. During heat exposure, tumor temperature rises higher since heat dissipation by blood flow is slower in tumors than in normal tissues due to the vascular structure of the tumor. Therefore, the aim of this study is to consider the effect of blood flow in simulation and dynamic phantoms for the combination therapy.
