In decommissioning of nuclear power plants, a large amount of contaminated piping is generated. Decontamination of contaminated pipes is an important process to reduce the amount of radioactive waste and radiation exposure during decommissioning. In this study, we conducted a decontamination test using separate dry decontamination equipment for blast and barrel polishing to clarify the decontamination mechanism of small-diameter piping in the decommissioning and to examine the decontamination conditions with high decontamination effectiveness. The decontamination characteristics of blast and barrel polishing were investigated. From the results of the experiments, the high efficient angle of the small-diameter pipe for decontamination of particles projected by the blast mechanism was clarified.
