In this presentation, a brief introduction will be made for the design and simulation of a new 90Sr analytical apparatus, in which the methods of resonance ionization, quadrupole mass spectroscopy, multipole ion guide and ion trap have been applied. Theoretically, combining resonance ionization and quadrupole mass spectroscopy will dramatically improve both the elemental and isotopic selectivity. Multipole ion guide, such as octupole, being arranged after a quadrupole mass filter will constrain the ions more tightly on radial direction, so as to raise the ion loading rate in the ion trap. By adding multipole ion guide, the new design shows substantial increase upon loading rate of 90Sr ions, comparing with the former research. Detailed simulation results by SIMION will be shown in this presentation.
