In high-intensity proton accelerators, such as accelerator-driven systems (ADS), it is important to compare experimental data of (p,xp) reactions in several GeV regions. In the past, our group has performed spectral measurements by calorimetric measurements using plastic scintillators, but measurements are difficult to be performed using scintillators in several GeV regions. Therefore, we conducted spectrum measurements based on Cherenkov radiation. In space applications, it is also important to measure the spectra of protons generated by solar flares, etc., and the development of Cherenkov-based spectrometers is underway. Since the number of photons generated by Cherenkov radiation has a response that depends on the light speed ratio (β) of protons, this response property was measured using scattered protons from the dump window of the accelerator facility at J-PARC. The measurement results showed that the response function is almost as expected. The possibility of measuring the proton spectrum of the (p,xp) reaction will be discussed.
