[P3-173] Sharing Rules Of Abuse Notification Parents And Following Their Children: Trials Our Hospital

Reimi TSURUSAWA, (Department of Pedatrics, Chikushi Hospital Fukuoka University, Fukuoka, Japan)

When we suspect child abuse, it sometimes becomes necessary to separate the family. Even after abused children return to their homes, however, they need to be followed up physically, mentally and psychologically by a pediatrician. Their parents tend to have feelings of anger toward the staff member who notified them about temporary parental separation. With the aim of building a relationship of trust with parents, we share the rules of staff members for parental notification the need for separation and the staff follow up of children. We currently have nine abused children separated from their parents. If we suspect abuse, the follow-up staff member doesn’t meet the parents and doesn’t attend the notification meeting for the parents regarding temporary parental separation. In the follow-up after returning to their homes, the staff member responsible for following the child can establish a good relationship with the parents. Sharing rules of abuse notification with parents and following their children facilitates establishing a good relationship with the parents.
