[R1-04] Evaluation of dead time correction procedure for quantitative electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) of ultra-trace elements

*Takenori Kato1 (1. ISEE, Nagoya Univ.)

Keywords:Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), Dead time, wavelength dispersive spectrometer, proportional counter, trace element

Recently, quantitative electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) of trace elements is widely applied in various applications, including geological samples. EPMA has several important advantages compared with other in-situ methods: non-destructive analysis and well-developed matrix correction procedures. Evaluation of the dead time correction procedure in multiple WDS sampling technique was performed using Monte Carlo simulation.
