[R4-04] Inhibition effects of polysaccharides on dolomitization at high temperatures
Keywords:dolomitization, dolomite, polysaccharides
The effect of dissolved polysaccharides (carboxymethyl cellulose and agar) on dolomite precipitation at 200 ℃ was investigated in this research and the results of our experiments demonstrate that the transition from calcite to dolomite is inhibited in polysaccharide-bearing solutions. The decomposition products of polysaccharides will adsorb onto the reaction interface, and thus prevent dissolution and precipitation processes. This indicates that microbial activity is not always favorable for dolomite formation in certain conditions.
