This paper presents an experiment and 3D finite element analysis for stress around cracks at the interface between two materials. The focus of this study is to simulate the stress distribution between a normal concrete (NC) substrate and a very high strength fiber reinforced cementitious composites ( VFC) overlay, and to provide a comprehensive overview of how stress affects delamination between the two materials under bending loads. Bending tests were conducted on wide RC beams repaired with different thicknesses of the overlay. The finite element method (FEM) results indicate variations in stress at the interface, which contributed to the occurrence of delamination. Additionally, the interface surface condition affected the stress distribution at the point of delamination.
