[U08-P02] Networking, International Collaborations, and Outreach: Perspectives from In Person and Online Activities

Keywords:networking, international collaborations, session organizations, online activities

In this talk, I will share my experiences with international research collaborations and outreach in the field of ocean and climate sciences. My graduate studies and research experiences in various countries were essential in developing community networks and collaborations. All of my supervisors/principal investigators (PIs) adopted different approaches to supporting early-career members, but ultimately, this support and these experiences have led to the robust international communication and collaborations. I will also discuss how online networking over the past couple of years has introduced me to new connections, outreach opportunities, and collaborations. In particular, an online study group spanning different countries has facilitated networking among graduate students and early- to mid-career researchers. These networking developments over the past several years have led to the organization of sessions at conferences, including the Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) Meeting. Both in-person and online activities have fostered productive group collaborations and facilitated the organization of international sessions.
