[2D15] Methane conversion over a Pt/Al2O3 catalyst using nitric oxide as an oxidant
The activation of methane with NO over Pt/Al2O3 was studied. In the temperature range of 300 450°C, using O2 and N2O as oxidants, only CO2 and CO were formed, and no other oxygenates were detected. However, when NO was used, not only CO2 and CO but also HCN and NH3 were produced. While the activities of other precious metal catalysts (Pd, Rh, and Ru) were also evaluated, only Pt catalyst exhibited the high activity to HCN formation. The Pt catalyst was found to stably form HCN at 400℃ over 100h studied.
