[2F07] [Invited] Oxidative coupling of methane over alkaline tungstate catalysts
Keywords:Oxidative coupling of methane, Reaction mechanism, Autocatalysis
Alkali tungstates are excellent catalysts for oxidative coupling of methane (OCM). The promotional effects on both rate and selectivity were attained in the presence of water. This study elucidates active sites for selective OCM performance by the microkinetic analysis as well as operando spectroscopic characterization to elucidate the active sites. The results suggest that active components are alkali metal existing at the most outer surface, which forms peroxide species in equilibrium with gas-phase oxygen. This surface peroxide is likely responsible for OH radical formation to selectively convert CH4 to C2.
